Flavours of Babylon: A Family Cookbook
When she was little, Linda Dangoor lived in a multi-generational home on the bank of the Tigris in Baghdad, Iraq. When she was 10, her family left, first to Beirut and later to England. Living in exile, Dangoor’s family continued to cook the dishes of their homeland like t’beet, or chicken cooked overnight buried in aromatic rice, a stew of meatballs and okra, and numerous salads and pickles, which she’s captured in this book. Dangoor writes: “This book does not pretend to be a comprehensive study of Iraqi food, rather, it is a personal collection of my favourite family recipes handed down from one generation to the next.”
