Nazareth: A Fascinating City of Culture and Cuisine
This softcover book could be considered an English-language cultural guide to the city of Nazareth, yet it stays away from any negative associations of the word “tourism,” aspiring to give readers access to all of the city’s local secrets. The first of its four chapters is dedicated to the street food of Nazareth and the second covers restaurants. In these, Elinoar Rabin offers listings of places to eat along with history of the place and a recipe from its menu.
The third chapter is a unique venture off the beaten trail, focusing on the city’s home cooks and their recipes. Its introduction explains: “In all the meetings we had — with restaurateurs, chefs, cooks — we were repeatedly told about the food prepared in their mothers’ kitchen, and how, for them, everything had started at that point.” Finally, the fourth and last chapter provides useful touristic information, such as local hotels.
