The Poppy Pop-Up

  • March 20-22, 9 a.m.– until sold out
  • Asif, 28 Lilienblum St, Tel Aviv
poppy seeds

Cafe Asif’s deli is transforming itself into a poppy destination for Purim. Stop by for a slice of presburger, a Central European cake by chef Erez Komarovsky, baker Farah Raslan’s poppy-filled ma’amoul, a riff on Hungarian poppy seed crepes, and more.

Love them or not, poppy seeds are everywhere for Purim. We turned to bakers across the country to take a fresh look at the seeds for a special pop-up at our deli. For the three days before Purim, we will carry poppy seed croissants from Noa’s Local Bakery, poppy-filled ma’amoul by baker Farah Raslan, poppy tarts from Tosha Bakery, savory poppy bourekas from Shalom Alachem Bakery, and more.

Veteran spice shop Hashshush will join us and grind poppy seeds, so you can bake with them at home (check out our favorite poppy seed recipes).

You can also try a special cake from Erez Komarovsky and Hungarian poppy-filled crepes by our culinary director Guy Ben Harush at Cafe Asif.
