Yom Asif 2022 is a day of events dedicated to examining the idea of local food in Israel. This afternoon program deals with the representations of local food culture in different media like culinary documentaries and reality shows. And, looks at what happens when complex messages are conveyed on social media platforms.

Start the afternoon with Local Food Through the Lens, a panel moderated by culinary expert Hila Alpert. We’ll look at the power of film to document local food culture, the different means of storytelling like reality TV and documentaries, and the challenges of telling the story of Israeli food and its many disparate influences. Hila will be joined by “We Are the Napkin” director Ofer Ein Gal, restaurateur and director Shahar Segal, producer and editor Etti Ante-Segev, and Hilla Medalia, who is filming a local food documentary directed by Dr. Muzna Bishara.

Next, join us for Social Media, Local Food, so much goes into the idea of local food culture — rich history, traditions, agriculture, tastes, memories, to name a few. How do you mediate all of these in the era of TikTok? Podcast host, blogger, and restaurant consultant Oren Luxenburg, and Itamar Aviv, CEO of Toks, which creates TikTok videos for brands, will lead this discussion.
