Yudale wine bar, the wild child of the renowned Machneyuda group, is a hidden gem near Jerusalem’s Machane Yehuda market. It exudes a joyful atmosphere like the group’s other restaurants, but offers a broader alcohol selection, more relaxed atmosphere, and a diverse food menu built around fresh produce from the market.
“While the crowd flocks to Machneyuda restaurant for the ultimate party in town, I prefer slipping into Yudale, where a different vibe prevails,” notes Adeena Sussman. “While the established big sister, Machneyuda, bears the responsibility of delivering the best entertainment — dancing on tables, countless shots, and the world-famous polenta served in a jar — Yudale revels in its autonomy, playing with the menu and letting the ambiance do the talking. I’ve enjoyed many solo evenings at the bar (something I wouldn’t do at Machneyuda), sipping on one of their flawless cocktails, munching on a Jaffa gate bagel with grape leaf zhug, and relishing plates like bresaola with pickled za’atar and tuna tartare with greens, yogurt, and labneh. If Machneyuda is a tank, Yudale is a Ferrari, and one that I’m delighted to take for a spin anytime.”
