Pastry chef and recipe developer Rinat Tzadok is an advocate for cooking education for all ages. Collaborating with children in the kitchen provides precious quality bonding time as well as helps them develop essential skills, independence and self-confidence.

Her recipe for fruity sorbet is a perfect treat to make with kids on a hot summer day. Let them taste the fruits and other ingredients beforehand to discover new flavors and textures.

Ingredients

3 cups mixed frozen berries (raspberries, cherries, blueberries)

2 tablespoons almond butter

2 pitted dates (or 2 spoons of grape/maple molasses)

1 cup ice cubes

½ frozen banana

½ cup cold water, as needed

Preparation
  1. Place all the ingredients, except for the water, in a food processor or a strong blender.
  2. Blend on high for 2-3 minutes. If the mixture is a little dry, add a bit of water as needed, but no more than ½ cup.
  3. Pour the mixture into a loaf pan and freeze (you can also eat it immediately). Serve on the same day (the sorbet is not intended for long storage and freezing).
